AAPE by A Bathing Ape has teamed up with American military-inspired clothing manufacturer, Alpha Industries for a winter ready collection.
A Japanese streetwear powerhouse and a former uniform supplier to the US military might not seem like the perfect bedfellows. Only that former military supplier has become a streetwear powerhouse in its own right and the Japanese label a huge proponent of an originally military pattern, camouflage.
A partner brand to the top Japanese streetwear label, AAPE By A Bathing Ape (or AAPE for short) launched in 2012 with an energetic collection of relaxed streetwear staples that fuze classic classic Bape branding with modern, youthful designs.
Alpha Industries is the American clothing manufacturer founded in the 1950s that has now found favour in contemporary streetwear circles with the rise in popularity of military-inspired apparel.
For the first time, the two labels are collaborating on a winter ready collection of outerwear that is heavy on military influence.
Three of Alpha Industries classic flight jackets have been given the AAPE treatment including the MA-1 Natus, M-65 Defender Liner Jacket and the L-2B Hybrid Reversible Flight Jacket.
The MA-1 Natus and L-2B Hybrid Reversible Flight Jacket, are both clad in camo, with the former featuring bold AAPE Moon Face branding.
While the M-65 Defender Liner Jacket features a camo print that is unique to the collection.
An AAPE hooded sweatshirt is also included in the mix with a special edition collaboration logo.
AAPE’s signature “Moon Face” insignia, “AAPE by A Bathing Ape” motifs, and unique AAPE and Alpha Industries co-branding, identify the collection. Check out more of the collection in the gallery below.
