For Spring/Summer, Carhartt WIP has dropped a capsule collection in honour of the iconic Nigerian musician and political activist, Fela Kuti.
Fela as he was simply known was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, musician, composer and pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre. He was also a known human rights activist until his mysterious death in 1997. Crafted in collaboration with his in conjunction with the Fela Kuti estate, his former manager and Knitting Factory Records, the collection takes inspiration from Fela Kuti’s vibrant album artwork, including 1975s Expensive Shit and his recording Live In Detroit 86.
The motifs are almost like a camouflage made up of the letters FELA and they are applied to a range of pieces, from graphic t-shirts and bucket hats, to shirts and caps. Click here to see the full collection at Carhartt.
