Japanese Atelier Yohji Yamamoto drops military-influenced FW19

Yohji Yamamoto has released a Fall/Winter 2019 lookbook featuring both military and tactical influences with oversized coats and ankle length parkas dominating the collection.

Yohji Yamamoto is a Japanese fashion designer and master tailor based in Tokyo who is known for his avant-garde tailoring and Japanese design aesthetics.

The atelier has collaborated with numerous other fashion brands, including adidas(Y-3), Mikimoto, Hermès, Mandarina Duck and even the New Era Cap Company.

Yamamoto’s dedication to craftsmanship permeates the designer’s FW19 collection with reversible outerwear and a variety of high quality woolen fabrics featured.

One notable military-inspired highlight is the trench coat inspired by British World War 1 uniforms (above).

The palette is one of muted tones and patterns. Check out the lookbook in the gallery below.
