The New Balance x Red Wing Heritage collaboration style elevates the iconic 997 silhouette with a luxe military makeover using Red Wing-sourced, Hawthorne Muleskinner Leather.
Red Wing Shoes is a company with a distinct military background. The Minnesota company named after its home town of town of Red Wing, was the primary company manufacturing footwear for American soldiers fighting in World War I, producing more than 200,000 pairs of boots per year.
The company continued its tradition of producing footwear for wartime use by manufacturing boots for American soldiers during World War II.
Little surprise then that a company with such a rich military history would opt for military tones in its reworking of a classic New Balance silhouette in the 997.
The New Balance x Red Wing M997RW has been designed by incorporating both a roughout leather and a lighter, smooth and soft suede leather.
The sneaker is finished with a co-branded insole and Red Wing’s signature triple stitch heel.
ENCAP® midsole technology provides support and maximum durability, while an EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) foam midsole and heel provides cushioning and comfort at the heel. This is a shoe that feel both contemporary and heritage at the same time. Check out the Red Wing Shoes x New Balance M997RW collaboration in the gallery below.
