Japanese label WACKO MARIA, iconic American footwear doyen Converse and Taiwanese boutique label INVINCIBLE, have collaborated on a collection of high and low-top versions of the Chuck Taylor All Star 70.
Is it animal print or is it camouflage?
The INVINCIBLE x WACKO MARIA x Converse Chuck 70 collection offers a contemporary fusion of camouflage and animal print to striking effect, making it hard to distinguish which is which to the naked eye.
The animal print influence undoubtedly comes from Wacko Maria, a Japanese boutique that previously worked with Converse on a leopard print Converse in 2018.
The new prints are offered in two colorways using a unique reactive dye technique.
The High version comes in a more leopard style camouflage with gold and browns the predominant earthy tones.
Meanwhile, the low version offers a more jungle-toned print with earthy woodland tones.
Both colorways are framed with a high gloss off-white toecap and midsole with black piping.
WACKO MARIA has also produced an apparel collection to accompany the footwear, highlights of which include a fatigue jacket in a print that matches the footwear.
“Invincible and WACKO MARIA are longtime partners who both love Converse” WACKO MARIA co-founder Atsuhiko Mori said in a statement.
“This partnership was meant to be and collectively taps into what each of these brands represent in street style.”
